Why the Delay of a Week?

You may be thinking that the IPL is going to start on 30th March 2021, then why first match will be playing after nearly a week? The reason behind the same is IPL 2020. The IPL 2021 Schedule has been made considering the conclusion of the IPL 2020.

IPL Schedule 2021 Time Table

The delay at the beginning of the matches of IPL Teams was recommended by the Lodha Commission. As per the rules, there should be a gap of 7 days between the last IPL match and the first international fixture. The final of the IPL will be played on 30th May 2021 and thus, Team CSK got the date of 9th April to play their first match against RCB.
